Once again, due to the useless void of endless genre labels, there are
several answers to this.
If you mean "dance music" ala 'Ultimate Dance Mix' style compo cd's
(ie. Ricky Martin style).. none :)
but then if it's 'dance music' (as in meant for dancing) the answer would
be none as well... I refer back to the explanation that IDM is for
listening and not for dancing, although you may or may not be able to
dance to it.

if that's the case. 98% of electronic music would not be labeled IDM :)
and even some IDM would not be labeled as IDM ;)

another factor you might add is not simply skill, but also the amount of
work put into a track. there are a lot of people out there putting loops
together and putting them out.
but that cannot be a genre, because the same could be said about any style
of music (though conventional styles tend to require a lot of work before
you get anything done at all, since there's not really cut'n'paste when
doing things the old fashioned way)
Somehow it seems that IDM is thought of as a 'quality' of music, rather
than a genre..
If someone says a jungle track is house, you can say "No, it isn't." and
it probably won't start a flame war, but someone says such and such is
IDM, and then suddenly you're dodging fireballs.
Maybe this is widely known (I've never heard anyone bring it up).. but if
you put say.. Sven V?th's Scorpio's Movement next to Aemic's ADSL
track.. There is a HUGE difference in the style of music. Same is true for
a lot of the other electronic music styles and I think this is what IDM
is.. A seperate genre of music from all the rest, which is not under any
other genre (maybe electronic? since it IS electronic, but then there's
some ambient out there that has a lot of acoustic stuff, another question
posed.. Is ambient IDM?) but generally it's on its own plane. Doesn't
belong to any other genre.. It may borrow from the others, and its artists
may dabble with other genres (ie. Wagon Christ and downtempo/triphop) and
then those tracks are also called IDM, but pure IDM sounds nothing like
those genres. That may even be stupid .. but it's true that the majority
of stuff from Skam, Musik Aus Strom, Schematic, etc.. does not sound
anything like any other styels of electronic music out there, unless you
want to label it 'Autechre-ish' or relate it to some other artist in such
fashion.
and what happens is that other tracks that sound like those dabbles of the
IDM artists are also called IDM, and then you get a very blurry blurry
line of what is and what isn't IDM.. what can be called, and what can't be
called IDM, etc.
Now this leads me to something else many people think. The name
'Intelligent Dance Music' can be understood to say that music that is not
IDM is inferior. The answer to that is an individualistic one that depends
on the person's viewpoint.
